The "CS43122 DAC Card for E7" is the fourth replacement DAC card in the E7 series, equipped with the Cirrus Logic CS43122. The CS43122, known as a large, top-tier DAC chip designed with high-end audio applications of its time in mind, features an oversampling 5-bit delta-sigma modulator combined with a multi-element switched-capacitor DAC/low-pass filter controlled by DEM. Unlike typical 1-bit delta-sigma DACs, its multi-bit configuration effectively suppresses out-of-band noise and jitter sensitivity. To integrate this special chip, which requires demanding implementation conditions and ample space, into a portable device, LUXURY&PRECISION (LP for short) leveraged its exceptionally advanced design capabilities to clear the complex implementation requirements of older generations.

The CS43122 is diametrically opposed to modern DACs, which prioritize design efficiency and miniaturization. It is a chip with a weighty configuration and limited design freedom. However, in addition to its 5-bit delta-sigma modulator, the CS43122 employs a configuration that uses Dynamic Element Matching to suppress distortion caused by variations in each element. The unique appeal of this chip lies in its ability to bring out a smooth texture and natural sound connections that cannot be fully expressed by mere numerical performance. For LP, driven by musicality as an art rather than efficiency, thorough research has been conducted to maximize its potential, making it viable not only as a portable device but also as an interchangeable module.

Continuing the E7's philosophy of reproducing classic sound tuning, a dedicated line-out circuit optimized for matching with LP's full-analog portable amplifier, the "EA4," is adopted. DAC chips that have been out of production for many years cannot be used as core components of a product simply because stock exists. For this product, only extremely high-quality CS43122 chips, capable of meeting the implementation demands of current high-end audio, were carefully selected from a reliable, long-established supplier specializing in the long-term storage of old-generation semiconductors.
